❗️Urgent Scam Alert: Protect Yourself from Fake "Wix Partners"!

Updated: Sep 18

We've recently become aware of scammers affecting Wix partners and their clients: a rise in fake leads and impersonation scams. We want to make sure you're equipped to identify these fraudulent attempts and protect yourself.

What's Happening?

Some individuals are impersonating legitimate Wix partners, including yourweb, to send out scam emails. They are taking advantage of publicly available information about Wix partners and creating fake Gmail accounts to contact past or new clients . These emails are designed to look like legitimate business inquiries or offers, but they are not from us or Wix.

How to Identify a Scam Email:

The most crucial red flag to watch out for is the sender's email address.

  • Always check the email domain:

An official email from Wix will always come from a @wix.com address. Similarly, any legitimate communication from yourweb will originate from an @yourweb.co.nz domain.

  • Beware of generic email addresses:

If an email claiming to be from Wix or a Wix partner comes from a generic domain like @gmail.com or any other non-corporate email, it is highly likely to be a scam. Please ignore these emails.

How to indentify scam emails from wix partners

This is an example of a FAKE email:

This is an example of a fake email when someone is trying to impersonate. Red flags are highlighted

  • Red Flags in Impersonation Email

  • Generic Email Domain: The sender used a common email address like "@gmail.com" instead of a professional business domain "yourweb.co.nz". Legitimate companies always use their official domain for communication.

  • Lack of Personal Introduction: The email lacks a proper introduction. Our team members and most professionals, will always introduce themselves by name. A generic phrase like "I'm Yourweb" is often a tactic used in spam or phishing attempts.

  • Irrelevant Email Signature: The email signature does not include the sender's name (which should have been introduced) or an official business logo. Instead, it features a generic platform logo (like Wix), which is a common sign of a fraudulent email.

💡 Remember:
  • Legitimate businesses use official corporate email addresses for their communications.
  • You can research the Wix League Database to check if someone is really a Wix Partner

These are some emails reported as SCAM. If you received an email from this sender, ignore it!

What to Do if You Receive a Suspicious Email:

  • Do NOT click on any links or download any attachments.

  • Do NOT reply to the sender.

  • Report the scam to Wix: Wix is actively working to combat these fraudulent activities. You can report phishing attempts directly to them via their support article: Identifying and Reporting Phishing.

  • Forward it to us: If you think someone is pretending to be us, or if you're unsure whether an email is legitimate or not. Please forward it emails to info@yourweb.com. We'll review it for you and confirm its authenticity.
